Biography
Niven Howie is a British film editor. Born in London in 1964, he began his career in the mid-1980s as an assistant editor on music videos in Soho before becoming one of London's leading editors in that field and in commercials. He directed some music videos from 1988 and moved into television and features, including work with director Julien Temple on Bullet (1996).
Howie's edit of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) for Guy Ritchie earned a BAFTA nomination. He has since edited numerous films, including Dawn of the Dead (2004), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005), several entries in the Resident Evil series (2007–2012), Death Race (2008) and Step Up All In (2014). He is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has received Emmy and further BAFTA nominations for his work on television projects such as His Dark Materials (2019).
