Biography

Nobuo Koyama (小山 信夫) is a Japanese cinematographer who has worked extensively in anime. He is credited as director of photography on the Studio Ghibli film Grave of the Fireflies (1988), directed by Isao Takahata.

Koyama served as cinematographer or director of photography on numerous anime productions, including the television series Urusei Yatsura (1981–1986), the films Night on the Galactic Railroad (1985), Black Magic M-66 (1987) and They Were Eleven (1986), and later features such as Like the Clouds, Like the Wind (1990) and Maroko (1990). He has been associated with photography companies including Lucky More.
