Biography
Noel Regney was a French-born composer and songwriter. Born Léon Schlienger in Strasbourg on 19 August 1922, he studied music in Strasbourg, Salzburg and Paris before serving in the French Resistance during the Second World War.
After moving to the United States in the early 1950s, Regney collaborated with his first wife Gloria Shayne on several songs, most notably the 1962 Christmas standard 'Do You Hear What I Hear?'. He also wrote the English lyrics for 'Dominique', the 1963 hit by The Singing Nun. His work appeared on film soundtracks including Gremlins (1984). Regney died in Brewster, New York, on 22 November 2002.
