Biography
Noreen Ackland was a British film and television editor. She began her career during the Second World War, working in the cutting rooms of the Army Kinematograph Unit after being placed there by Thorold Dickinson. She subsequently assisted editor Reginald Mills on films by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger.
Ackland's first feature credit as editor was on Powell's Peeping Tom (1960). She went on to edit The Queen's Guards (1961), The Password Is Courage (1962), Never Put It in Writing (1964) and other features. In 1967–1968 she edited two episodes of the television series The Prisoner.
She was married to film editor Richard Best from 1956 until his death in 2004. Later in her career she took on intermittent work in television, children's films and dubbing to accommodate family commitments. Ackland died on 15 April 2013.
