Biography
Norma Bailey is a Canadian film and television director, writer and producer. She was born in 1949 in Gimli, Manitoba, and graduated from the University of Manitoba. She began her career as a production assistant on David Cronenberg’s Rabid (1977) and joined the National Film Board of Canada.
Her early short The Performer (1980) won a jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Bailey has directed numerous documentaries, features and television dramas, including the Genie Award-winning Bordertown Café (1992). She has directed episodes of series including Outlander (2017), Anne with an E (2018–2019), Mary Kills People (2018–2019), Project Blue Book (2019–2020), Star Trek: Discovery (2020), Superman & Lois (2021) and Batwoman (2021). She was named to the Order of Manitoba in 2010.
