Biography
Norman Z. McLeod was an American film and television director. He was born on 20 September 1898 in Grayling, Michigan, and died on 27 January 1964 in Hollywood, California.
McLeod was educated at the University of Washington and served as a fighter pilot in the US Army during the First World War. He began his career as an animator and gag writer before directing comedy shorts and his first feature, Taking a Chance (1928).
He is known for directing comedies including Monkey Business (1931), Horse Feathers (1932), It's a Gift (1934), Topper (1937), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947) and The Paleface (1948). In later years he directed one episode of the television series The Twilight Zone (1959).
