Biography
Oja Kodar is a Croatian actress, screenwriter and director. Born Olga Palinkaš in 1941 near Zagreb, she met Orson Welles in 1961 while he was filming The Trial in Yugoslavia. Welles gave her the professional name Oja Kodar and the pair began a long personal and professional partnership that lasted until his death in 1985.
Kodar appeared in several of Welles's projects, including F for Fake (1973) and The Other Side of the Wind (2018), on which she also received a writing credit. She is credited as an actor in the 1969 film The Merchant of Venice and appears in archive footage in Don Quixote (1992). She has also directed and written films such as Jaded (1989) and co-directed Orson Welles: The One-Man Band (1995). After Welles's death she inherited materials from his unfinished projects and donated them to film archives.
