Biography
Olan Soule was an American actor whose career spanned radio, television and film. Born in La Harpe, Illinois, he began working in radio in 1926 and accumulated credits in nearly 7,000 radio shows and commercials. He later appeared in more than 200 television series and over 60 films.
Soule is noted for his role as Mr. Krull in The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). His other film appearances include North by Northwest (1959) and The Towering Inferno (1974). He provided the voice of Batman in several animated series between 1968 and 1984, and had recurring or notable parts in series such as Dragnet, Captain Midnight and The Andy Griffith Show.
