Biography
Olly Blackburn is an English film director and screenwriter, also credited as Oliver Blackburn or Ollie Blackburn. Born in London, he had a childhood acting role in the 1982 short A Shocking Accident, which won an Academy Award for Best Short Subject.
Blackburn studied history at Balliol College, Oxford, graduating in 1993, and later received a Fulbright Scholarship to study film and television at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His early short films include Swallowed (1997) and Wonderful World (1998).
His feature debut Donkey Punch (2008), which he co-wrote and directed, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He has since directed the feature Kristy (2014) and television episodes including one of Endeavour (2016), three of Victoria (2016), five of StartUp (2017), four of The Widow (2019), three of Sanditon (2019) and four of Dangerous Liaisons (2022).
