Biography
Omero Antonutti (1935–2019) was an Italian actor and voice actor. Born in Basiliano in the province of Udine, he worked in shipyards before beginning his acting career on stage. He performed regularly at the Teatro Stabile di Trieste and the Teatro Stabile di Genova, often under the direction of Luigi Squarzina. His film debut came in 1966 with Pleasant Nights.
Antonutti gained recognition for his role as the father in the Taviani brothers' Padre Padrone (1977). He played Galvano in their The Night of the Shooting Stars (1982) and appeared as Agustín Arenas in Víctor Erice's El Sur (1983). Other film roles include work with Carlos Saura in El Dorado (1988) and as Noah in Genesis: The Creation and the Flood (1994). He was also active in dubbing, providing the regular Italian voice for Christopher Lee in films including The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
