Biography
Ondřej Nekvasil is a Czech production designer and scenographer. Born on 15 July 1966 in Ostrava, he trained in scenography at the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU) and in architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague.
He is known for his work on films including The Illusionist (2006), Snowpiercer (2013) and Unlocked (2017), and television series such as The Wheel of Time (2021–). Nekvasil won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Art Direction for the miniseries Anne Frank: The Whole Story (2001) and received awards for best production design on Snowpiercer, including the Blue Dragon Film Award and Grand Bell Award.
Since 1996 he has taught scenography at DAMU, where he was appointed docent in 2005. He has also worked extensively in theatre and Czech productions.
