Biography
Oscar Potoker was a composer and musician. Born on 26 April 1880 in Vinnitsa, Russian Empire (now Vinnytsia, Ukraine), he composed chamber works based on Jewish folk music before immigrating to the United States via Paris in 1924.
He worked in Hollywood from 1929 to 1935, contributing music to films including The Love Parade (1929), Blonde Venus (1932), The Vagabond King (1930) and The Scarlet Empress (1934), often uncredited or as orchestrator or adaptor. He also taught piano, theory and harmony. Potoker died on 26 June 1935 in Los Angeles.
