Biography
Otávio Augusto de Azevedo Sousa is a Brazilian actor, comedian and director. Born on 30 January 1945 in São Manuel, São Paulo, he began his career in the 1960s, working in radio before moving to theatre with the Teatro Oficina group and making his television debut in 1965.
He is known for roles in telenovelas including Avenida Brasil (2012) as Diógenes Viegas and A Padroeira (2001), and films such as Central Station (1998) as Pedrão, Love Strange Love (1982) and Eduardo and Monica (2022) as Seu Bira. Augusto has received awards including Best Actor at the 1979 Festival de Brasília for Muito Prazer and the Prêmio Qualidade Brasil for A Padroeira.
