Biography
Otto Lederer was a Czech-American film actor. Born in Prague in 1886, he appeared in around 120 films between 1912 and 1933, and directed two shorts in 1919 and 1921. He later worked in the makeup department on several films.
He is known for his roles in The Jazz Singer (1927) as Moisha Yudelson, The King of Kings (1927) as Eber, The Wizard of Oz (1925) as Ambassador Wikked, and the Laurel and Hardy short You're Darn Tootin' (1928) as the bandleader. He also appeared in Blonde Crazy (1931).
Lederer was married to actress Gretchen Lederer, with whom he had a son. He died in Woodland Hills, California, in 1965 and is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
