Biography
Ottorino Respighi was an Italian composer, violinist and musicologist. He was born on 9 July 1879 in Bologna and died on 18 April 1936 in Rome.
He studied at the Liceo Musicale di Bologna and with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in St Petersburg. Respighi is best known for his orchestral tone poems, including Fountains of Rome (1916), Pines of Rome (1924) and Roman Festivals (1928). His music was used in the Disney film Fantasia 2000 (2000).
