Biography
P. Erik Carlson is an American production designer and art director. A Seattle native, he studied architecture and environmental design at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He began his career building log cabins in Colorado before moving to Los Angeles, where his early credits included art direction on the television series Freaks & Geeks and art department work on the feature Memento (2000).
Carlson served as art director and later production designer on the ABC series Desperate Housewives (2004–2012), earning two Primetime Emmy nominations. His production design credits include the features The Outpost (2020) and Lucky Strike (2026), as well as the series Manhunt: Unabomber (2017), SIX (2017) and Episodes (2011). He has collaborated with directors including Christopher Nolan, Frank Darabont, Rod Lurie and Joe Carnahan.
