Biography
Paris Qualles is an American screenwriter and television producer. Born on 5 December 1951 in Harlem, New York City, he was raised in Long Branch, New Jersey, and graduated from Long Branch High School in 1970. He studied English literature at Rutgers College and earned an MFA in theatre directing from UCLA.
Qualles began his professional writing career on the sitcom Amen before contributing episodes to series including China Beach, Quantum Leap, Law & Order (the 1994 episode 'Nurture'), Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, M.A.N.T.I.S. and The Cape. His television films include The Tuskegee Airmen (1995), The Color of Friendship (2000), A House Divided (2000), The Rosa Parks Story (2002) and A Raisin in the Sun (2008).
He has received a Humanitas Prize and Writers Guild of America Award for The Color of Friendship, a Black Reel Award for The Rosa Parks Story, and an Emmy nomination for The Tuskegee Airmen.
