Biography
Pascaline Chavanne is a Belgian costume designer based in Paris. She trained in scenography at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Liège and later specialised in historical costume at the École Supérieure des Arts appliqués in Paris. She began working in film in the late 1990s after early experience in theatre.
Chavanne has maintained a long collaboration with director François Ozon, designing costumes for most of his films from the late 1990s onwards, including 8 Women (2002), Swimming Pool (2003), Young & Beautiful (2013), Summer of 85 (2020) and Trophy Wife (2010). She has also worked on films by other directors such as An Officer and a Spy (2019), Annette (2021) and Frantz (2016).
She has received three César awards for best costume design, for Renoir (2014), An Officer and a Spy (2020) and Nouvelle Vague (2026), along with numerous further nominations. She also won a Magritte award for The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun (2016).
