Biography
Pat Buttram (born Maxwell Emmett Buttram) was an American character actor. He began his career in radio on the National Barn Dance programme in Chicago and later became the sidekick of Gene Autry in more than forty western films and over one hundred episodes of The Gene Autry Show (1950–1956).
He is best known for playing the wheeler-dealer Mr Haney in the television series Green Acres (1965–1971). Buttram also provided voices for several Disney animated features, including Napoleon in The Aristocats (1970), the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood (1973), Luke in The Rescuers (1977) and Chief in The Fox and the Hound (1981). He appeared in live-action roles such as the saloon old-timer in Back to the Future Part III (1990).
Buttram was born on 19 June 1915 in Addison, Alabama, and died on 8 January 1994 in Los Angeles.
