Biography
Patricia Morison was an American actress and mezzo-soprano singer. Born Eileen Patricia Augusta Fraser Morison in New York City on 19 March 1915, she studied at the Art Students League of New York and the Neighborhood Playhouse, and trained in dance with Martha Graham. She made her Broadway debut in 1933 and her feature film debut in 1939.
Morison appeared in films including The Song of Bernadette (1943) as Empress Eugenie, Dressed to Kill (1946) and Song of the Thin Man (1947). Her greatest success came on stage as the lead in the original Broadway production of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate (1948), which she later performed in London; she also appeared in The King and I. She worked in television and returned to film in The Long Day Closes (1992). Morison died in Los Angeles on 20 May 2018.
