Biography
Patricia Rommel is a French film editor born on 10 May 1956 in Paris. She has worked as a freelance editor since 1980, having begun in film and dubbing productions in the late 1970s.
Rommel has edited numerous German and international features. She has collaborated repeatedly with directors Caroline Link (from Beyond Silence in 1996 onwards) and Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (including The Lives of Others in 2006, The Tourist in 2010 and Never Look Away in 2018). Other credits include films directed by Angelina Jolie such as In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011), By the Sea (2015) and First They Killed My Father (2017), as well as Nowhere in Africa (2001) and When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit (2019).
Her editing has received several awards, including the German Camera Award and the German Film Critics’ Award for Off Beat (2004), and the German Film Critics’ Award for The Lives of Others. She was nominated for the German Film Award for the latter and for A Year Ago in Winter (2008). In 2016 she shared the Premio Ariel for Gloria. Rommel is a member of the Deutsche Filmakademie, the European Film Academy and, since 2018, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
