Biography
Patrick Chesnais is a French actor, director and screenwriter. He was born in La Garenne-Colombes, Hauts-de-Seine, and trained at the Conservatoire National d'Art Dramatique in Paris after studying at the Lycée Pierre Corneille in Rouen. He began his career in theatre in the 1960s before making his screen debut in 1976.
Chesnais is known for roles including Dr. Lepage in The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (2007), Henry in The Emperor of Paris (2018) and Lucius Sillius Sallustius in Kaamelott (2005). He won the César Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in La Lectrice (1988). He is married to actress Josiane Stoléru.
