Biography
Patrick Horgan (1929–2021) was a British-American actor of Irish descent. Born in Nottingham, he initially studied medicine before pursuing acting and began working in television in the 1950s. He appeared in films including The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) and provided the voice of the narrator in Woody Allen's Zelig (1983); his final screen role was a guest part in Allen's The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001).
On stage he played Sherlock Holmes in Broadway productions and had recurring roles in several American soap operas, notably as Dr John Morrison in The Doctors (1970–1974). He also recorded numerous audiobooks, including an unabridged reading of Finnegans Wake for the Library of Congress. Horgan was married to actress Irish McCalla from 1958 to 1969.
