Biography
Pau Esteve Birba is a Spanish cinematographer. Born in Barcelona in 1981, he graduated in photography from the Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya (ESCAC). After early work as a camera operator and focus puller, he moved to Mexico in 2009 before returning to Spain for second-unit duties on the film Buried (2010). He later settled in Málaga.
Esteve Birba is known for his cinematography on Cannibal (2013), for which he received a Goya Award and the San Sebastián International Film Festival Jury Prize for Best Cinematography. He has also served as director of photography on The Good Boss (2021), The Motive (2017), Orbiter 9 (2017), Realive (2016) and the series Echo 3 (2022). He has received further Goya nominations and a Carmen Award for his work.
