Biography

Paul Barnes is a film editor and producer known for his work on documentaries. He studied at the New York University Institute of Film and Television from 1969 to 1973.

Barnes edited Errol Morris’s The Thin Blue Line (1988). Since 1984 he has collaborated extensively with Ken Burns at Florentine Films, editing or supervising the editing of The Statue of Liberty (1984), The Civil War (1990), Baseball (1994), The War (2007) and other series. He has also produced several Burns projects, including serving as lead producer on The Roosevelts: An Intimate History (2014). Barnes won a Primetime Emmy Award for his editing of Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson (2004).
