Biography
Paul Buckmaster (1946–2017) was a British cellist, arranger, conductor and composer. Born in London, he studied at the Royal Academy of Music and began his career in classical music before moving into popular music and film.
He is best known for his orchestral arrangements on recordings by David Bowie, Elton John, the Rolling Stones and many others. His film work includes the original score for Twelve Monkeys (1995), for which he also served as conductor and orchestrator, and the score for Most Wanted (1997). He also contributed to the soundtrack for Roman Polanski’s Macbeth (1971). Buckmaster won a Grammy Award in 2002 for his arrangement of Train’s “Drops of Jupiter”.
