Biography

Paul Mayersberg is a British screenwriter and director. He worked briefly in advertising before entering the film industry as an assistant to directors including Joseph Losey. He was a founder-editor of Movie magazine and a critic for New Society, and he wrote the book Hollywood: The Haunted House (1967).

His screenplays include The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976) and Eureka (1983) for Nicolas Roeg, Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), and Croupier (1998). He has also directed films such as Captive (1986).
