Biography

Paul Vaughan (1925–2014) was an English actor, journalist and voiceover artist, best known as the narrator of the BBC science documentary series Horizon from 1968 to 1995. He also narrated the 1984 television film Threads and provided the voice of the narrator in the 1998 feature Waking Ned (also known as Waking Ned Devine), as well as a prison tannoy voice in The Escapist (2008).

Vaughan presented the Radio 4 arts magazine programme Kaleidoscope from its launch in 1973 until 1998. Earlier in his career he worked as Chief Press Officer for the British Medical Association and contributed to science programmes on BBC World Service radio. His distinctive voice was widely used in television commercials and trailers.
