Biography
Paul Zaza is a Canadian composer and songwriter. He trained as a classical pianist and graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He began composing film scores in the late 1970s after earlier work as a musician, including playing bass in a touring production of the musical Hair and touring with The 5th Dimension.
Zaza has frequently collaborated with director Bob Clark and composer Carl Zittrer. He won the Genie Award for Best Music Score with Zittrer for Murder by Decree (1979) and received further Genie nominations for Isaac Littlefeathers (1985) and, with Peter Simpson, for Bullies (1987). His credits include Porky's (1981), Prom Night (1980), My Bloody Valentine (1981), Curtains (1983), A Christmas Story (1983), Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987), Popcorn (1991), Baby Geniuses (1999) and Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004). He has also composed for television, including the theme for Mr. Wizard's World.
