Biography

Paula Beer is a German actress. Born in Mainz, she began acting as a child and made her feature debut in the lead role of Chris Kraus's Poll (2010).

She gained wider recognition for her performance as Anna in François Ozon's Frantz (2016), for which she received the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival. Beer has collaborated repeatedly with director Christian Petzold, appearing in Transit (2018), Undine (2020) — for which she won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin International Film Festival — and Afire (2023), in which she plays Nadja.
