Biography
Peer Raben (born Wilhelm Rabenbauer) was a German composer. He attended the Musische Gymnasium Straubing and, in 1966, co-founded the Action Theatre in Munich, which became the Anti Theatre in 1968. There he worked as a writer, composer and director, and produced several of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's early films.
Raben composed the music for most of Fassbinder's feature films, including Fox and His Friends (1975), The Marriage of Maria Braun (1979), Lola (1981), Lili Marleen (1981) and Querelle (1982). He later scored films by other directors, among them Wong Kar-wai's 2046 (2004) and the episode he contributed to Eros (2004). In 2006 he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Soundtrack Academy.
