Biography
Rainer Werner Fassbinder was a German film director, screenwriter, producer, editor, actor and composer. He studied acting at the Fridl-Leonhard Studio in Munich and began making films in 1969 after working in theatre.
He directed, wrote and appeared in Fox and His Friends (1975). He directed, edited and appeared in The Marriage of Maria Braun (1979), and wrote the screenplay, composed the music and designed the production for Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (1974). Other films include The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant (1972), Lola (1981), Veronika Voss (1982) and Querelle (1982).
Fassbinder completed more than forty feature films, two television series, plays and other works between 1969 and his death in 1982.
