Biography
Penelope Skinner is a British playwright and screenwriter. Born in Reading in 1978, she began writing for the stage in her late twenties after seeing a production at the Bush Theatre. Her first play, Fucked, premiered at the Old Red Lion in London in 2008.
Skinner’s subsequent stage works include Eigengrau (2010) at the Bush Theatre and The Village Bike (2011) at the Royal Court Theatre, which earned her the George Devine Award and the Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright. She has also written episodes for the Channel 4 series Fresh Meat (2011–2016) and co-wrote the screenplay for the film How I Live Now (2013). Later television credits include creating and writing The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies (2023).
