Biography
Pete McTighe (also credited as Peter McTighe) is a British and Australian screenwriter and producer. Born in the United Kingdom in November 1972, he moved to Australia and studied film and television at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. He began his television career writing for series including Neighbours and EastEnders before creating and serving as originating writer on the prison drama Wentworth (2013–2020), for which he wrote 27 episodes across eight seasons.
McTighe created the BBC mystery thriller The Pact (2021–2022) and has written episodes of A Discovery of Witches (2018), The Rising (2021), Clickbait (2021) and Nowhere Boys (2013). He has written three episodes of Doctor Who (2005): "Kerblam!" (2018), "Praxeus" (co-written with Chris Chibnall, 2020) and "Lucky Day" (2025). He co-wrote and executive produced the Doctor Who spin-off The War Between the Land and the Sea (2025). He has received five Australian Writers Guild Award nominations and one Welsh BAFTA nomination.
