Peter Best is an Australian composer. Born on 18 October 1943 in Adelaide, South Australia, he has composed scores for numerous feature films since the early 1970s.

His credits include The Adventures of Barry McKenzie (1972), The Picture Show Man (1977), We of the Never Never (1982), Crocodile Dundee (1986), Crocodile Dundee II (1988), Muriel's Wedding (1994), Dad and Dave: On Our Selection (1995) and Doing Time for Patsy Cline (1997). He has also written music for television series and commercials, including the 'Slip! Slop! Slap!' sun safety campaign.

Best has received several Australian Film Institute Awards for Best Original Music Score.
