Biography
Peter Howitt is an English actor, film director and screenwriter. Born on 5 May 1957 in Manchester, he grew up in Eltham, London and Bromley, Kent, and trained at the Drama Studio London. He first gained prominence playing Joey Boswell in the BBC sitcom Bread (1986–1988).
Howitt wrote and directed his debut feature Sliding Doors (1998), in which he also appeared. He has since directed Antitrust (2001), Johnny English (2003), Laws of Attraction (2004) and Dangerous Parking (2007), the last of which he also wrote, produced and starred in. He has appeared in supporting roles in films including In the Name of the Father (1993).
Howitt has been married to Lorraine since 2001 and they have two children. He lives in Vancouver, Canada.
