Biography
Peter Kassovitz is a French film director, screenwriter and occasional actor. Born in Budapest, Hungary, on 17 November 1938, he left the country after the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and settled in Paris, where he worked as an assistant cameraman and cameraman before beginning to direct in 1959.
Kassovitz directed and co-wrote the 1999 Holocaust drama Jakob the Liar, starring Robin Williams. Early in his career he appeared as the young man in Jean-Luc Godard's Vivre sa vie (1962). He is the father of actor and director Mathieu Kassovitz.
