Biography
Peter Ortiz (1913–1988) was an American actor. Born Pierre Julien Ortiz in New York City, he appeared in numerous films from the late 1940s onwards, often in small or uncredited roles.
Before his acting career, Ortiz served in the French Foreign Legion and, during the Second World War, in the United States Marine Corps and the Office of Strategic Services. He received two Navy Crosses and other decorations for his wartime service.
Ortiz appeared in several films directed by John Ford, including She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) and Rio Grande (1950), in which he played Capt. St. Jacques. He also worked as a technical adviser on films such as 13 Rue Madeleine (1947).
