Biography

Peter Phillips was a British production designer who worked primarily in television. He spent 25 years with Granada Television, designing numerous drama productions.

He is best known for his work on the 1981 adaptation of Brideshead Revisited, for which he won a BAFTA award for best scenic design. Phillips was responsible for the sets and locations, including extensive filming at Castle Howard in Yorkshire. He also designed the 1963 production of War and Peace and other Granada dramas such as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1976).

Phillips was born in Whitstable, Kent, and attended Canterbury School of Art. He died in 2011.
