Biography
Peter S. Beagle is an American novelist and screenwriter. He was born on 20 April 1939 in New York City. He wrote his first novel, A Fine and Private Place, while studying at the University of Pittsburgh, from which he graduated in 1959.
Beagle is best known for the novel The Last Unicorn (1968) and its 1982 film adaptation, for which he wrote the screenplay. His other screen work includes the 1978 animated film The Lord of the Rings and the teleplay for the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 'Sarek' (1990). He has received a Hugo Award (2006), a Nebula Award (2007), the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement (2011) and the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award (2018).
