Biography
Peter Wunstorf is a Canadian cinematographer. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on 15 July 1959, he began shooting films as a teenager on his father's 8 mm camera. By age 19 he was working in news and commercials for local television stations and later for CBC French News, before moving into freelance work on music videos, documentaries and short films.
He has photographed more than a dozen American television pilots, including those for Millennium (1996), Smallville (2001) and Haunted (2002), each earning him an American Society of Cinematographers award nomination. His feature credits include Double Happiness (1994), for which he received a Genie Award nomination for Best Cinematography, Surveillance (2008) and A Street Cat Named Bob (2016). He served as second-unit director of photography and B-camera operator on Brokeback Mountain (2005). Wunstorf became a member of the ASC in 2005 and shot the pilot and first season of The Killing (2011).
