Biography

Phil McCall (1925–2002) was a Scottish stage, film and television actor born in Glasgow. He trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and worked in repertory theatre in Scotland and England.

His film roles include appearances in Ring of Bright Water (1969) and as the Grandfather in Lars von Trier's Breaking the Waves (1996). Television credits encompass Casualty, Monarch of the Glen, Coronation Street and Minder. He served as chairman of the Scottish committee of the actors' union Equity for 17 years.
