Biography
Philip Ettinger is an American actor. He was born on 8 September 1985 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, to a Jewish family. He attended Fair Lawn High School and began studying film directing at Emerson College before transferring to the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. His training also included time at the William Esper Studio and a year at the Globe Theatre in London.
Ettinger's professional career began in 2008 with an appearance in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He is known for his supporting role as Michael Mensana in First Reformed (2017). Other credits include Compliance (2012), Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017), I Know This Much Is True (2020) as the young-adult versions of the Birdsey twins, and the lead role of Cole Freeman in The Evening Hour (2020). In 2014 he was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for his stage work in Bad Jews.
