Biography
Philip G. Atwell is an American director of music videos, television and feature films. He began directing in 1999 after working as a music video producer, frequently collaborating with Dr. Dre on videos for Eminem and other hip-hop artists.
Atwell directed the concert documentary The Up in Smoke Tour (2000) and the short film The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003). He directed two episodes of the series The Shield (2005–2006) and served as second unit director on National Treasure (2004), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007) and The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010). His feature directorial debut was the 2007 action film War, starring Jet Li and Jason Statham. He is a 1987 graduate of the University of Delaware.
