Biography
Philippe du Janerand is a French actor and writer. Born Philippe Durand on 6 May 1959 in Paris, he is the son of painter Daniel du Janerand. He studied at the lycée Paul-Valéry before turning to acting, beginning in the theatre under directors including Didier Flamand, Jean-Hugues Anglade and Gilles Bouillon.
Since the 1970s he has appeared regularly in supporting roles in French cinema and television. His credits include Nikita (1990) as the Ambassador and his double Jules, Taxi (1998) as a passenger to the airport, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc (1999) as Dijon, The Chorus (2004) as Mr Langlois, The Women on the 6th Floor (2011) as Piquer, Happy End (2017) as Maître Barin and Maigret (2022) as the judge. He has also served on juries at several short-film festivals.
