Biography
Piero De Bernardi was an Italian screenwriter. He was born on 12 April 1926 in Prato and died on 8 January 2010 in Milan. He wrote or co-wrote screenplays for 119 films between 1954 and 2010.
De Bernardi often worked in partnership with Leonardo Benvenuti. Their collaborations included Marriage Italian Style (1964), the Fantozzi series beginning in 1975, the My Friends films, Bianco, rosso e Verdone (1981), The Marquis of Grillo (1981) and other works directed by Mario Monicelli and Carlo Verdone. He also contributed to the screenplay for Once Upon a Time in America (1984), directed by Sergio Leone.
De Bernardi received 11 awards during his career, including David di Donatello prizes. He was the father of actress Isabella De Bernardi.
