Biography
Piero Filippone (1911–1998) was an Italian production designer and art director. Born in Naples, Campania, he worked on the sets of around two hundred films between 1935 and 1992.
He created the sets for Roberto Rossellini’s Journey to Italy (1954) and Germany, Year Zero (1948). Other credits include Poverty and Nobility (1954), An American in Rome (1954), The Widower (1959), Day of Anger (1967), The Mercenary (1968) and Flatfoot in Hong Kong (1975). He also designed for many films starring Totò and received two Silver Ribbon awards for production design.
He later lived in the United States and died in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
