Biography
Pierre Dux (21 October 1908 – 1 December 1990) was a French actor and stage director. Born Pierre Alexandre Martin in Paris, he trained at the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique and made his stage debut in the early 1930s.
He joined the Comédie-Française in 1929, becoming a sociétaire in 1935 and serving as its administrator general from 1970 to 1979. He also co-directed the Théâtre de Paris from 1948 to 1952 and worked extensively in television, including as a director of several plays.
Dux appeared in more than 50 films between 1932 and 1990. His screen credits include Z (1969) as Gendarmerie General Missou, Is Paris Burning? (1966) as Alexandre Parodi, Monsieur Vincent (1947) as Le chancelier Séguier, The Horse (1970) as the investigating judge, and Special Section (1975) as Le procureur général Cavarroc. He was married to actress Francine Bessy.
