Biography
Pip Karmel is an Australian filmmaker who works as a film editor, director and screenwriter. Born in Adelaide in 1963, she collaborated exclusively with director Scott Hicks as editor from 1988 to 2007. Their films include Shine (1996), for which she received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations for editing and won an AFI Award.
Karmel wrote and directed the feature Me Myself I (2000), which starred Rachel Griffiths and screened at the Toronto and Telluride film festivals. She has also written for television, including episodes of Total Control (for which she won an AWGIE Award), New Gold Mountain and Bad Behaviour (2023), on which she served as co-creator and head writer.
