Biography

Purnell Pratt was an American actor who appeared in more than 110 films between 1914 and 1941. He was born in Bethel, Illinois, and died in Hollywood, California, on 25 July 1941.

Pratt began his career on the stage, working for a decade in George M. Cohan productions after studying at the University of Pennsylvania. He served in the US military in France during the First World War and appeared on Broadway in The Goose Hangs High (1924). His film roles included Robert French in Five Star Final (1931), Zinnowitz in Grand Hotel (1932) and the publisher in Scarface (1932).
